Autumn Learning
During Autumn Term in Year 1, we will continue to develop our understanding of phonics following the Little Wandle scheme. In English, we are looking at The Three Billy Goats Gruff. In addition to this, the children will be writing pieces inspired by You Choose, Oi Frog, Chocolate Cake and Simon Sock. In Mathematics, we will be working on Place Value within 10. This includes finding 1 more than, 1 less than, addition and subtraction. Our Author for Autumn Term is Beatrix Potter. We will spend the end of each day winding down to our class books.
In History, we will be exploring our own family histories and in Geography we will be exploring our local area. We will be looking at creating moving pictures in Design Technology and also creating pictures digitally in Computing.
In P.E, we will be working on our ball skills as well as exploring balance and co-ordination in gymnastics. Vincent Van Gogh will be our Artist of the term and we will explore his pictures and learn all about his life and inspirations. In RE, we will learn how Christians learn to live good lives from lessons from the bible and we will look at Christmas traditions. In PSHE, we will discuss what is means to be a good friend.

Homework
Homework is set every Friday and should be completed by the following Thursday. Children can have access to adult support during free flow if they are finding it challenging.
Reading books should be brought into school every day and returned Friday. Children's books will be changed every Friday.
Spellings are given to the children on a Friday to be practised at home, ready for a Spelling Test on the following Friday.
P.E. Information
Class 2 have PE every Wednesday and Thursday. Children must be wearing the appropriate kit to participate. Earrings must be removed or covered and long hair must be tied back.
PE kit:
On PE days, children should attend school in their PE kit.
