Hello and a big warm welcome to our Foundation class!
We are so excited to begin this learning journey with you. This year will be full of new adventures, discoveries, and lots of fun as we explore, play, and grow together.

Our Learning
In Foundation, we believe learning should be exciting, hands-on, and full of curiosity. Throughout the year, we explore a wide range of themes, alongside child-led learning and the development of key skills that help us grow as confident learners.
As we move into the summer term, our learning will begin to focus on working towards the Early Learning Goals (ELGs), supporting children in becoming more independent and prepared for the next stage of their learning journey.
This term, we will explore the world around us through engaging topics such as the seaside and beaches. In English, we will be reading and enjoying stories including The Lighthouse Keeper’s Lunch, alongside a range of seaside-themed books. The children will continue to develop their phonics through the Little Wandle scheme, applying their knowledge to reading and writing. In our writing sessions, children will use the sounds they know to write words, captions and simple sentences with increasing confidence.
In Maths, we will be focusing on number bonds to 10, helping children build a secure understanding of how numbers combine and relate to one another. Nursery children will continue to develop their number knowledge through practical activities, songs and patterns.
We will also be developing our understanding of the wider world through simple map work, helping children to explore locations, including beaches and coastal environments, and begin to understand how places are represented.
Across the term, we will continue to cover a broad range of curriculum areas through creative, practical and engaging experiences, ensuring that learning remains fun, meaningful and full of discovery.
