Our Learning
In Foundation, we believe learning should be exciting, hands-on, and full of curiosity. Throughout the year, we explore a wide range of themes, as well as child led learning and skills that help us grow as confident learners.
We explore the world around us through exciting topics, including: all about me, harvest, south pole, winter and much more.
This term, during Maths, we will be working on an understanding of the numbers 1-8. The children will explore the difference between odd and even. In Nursery, the children will be learning number rhymes and looking at repeating patterns. In English, the children will be listening to stories which under that fall under the topic ‘Arctic Animals’ well as exploring a range of books. We are well on our way with learning phonics through scheme Little Wandle, all of the children are making good progress. During our writing sessions, children are using the sounds they know to write words and tricky words. Nursery will be focusing particularly on learning nursery rhymes and are currently working on rhyming words and syllables. In addition to this, we are covering a broad range of curriculum areas over the term. This includes celebrating and learning about the Chinese New Year, Pancake Day, Easter and much more.
