Awesome Autumn
Welcome Back!
Miss Cavill and Mrs Robertson have enjoyed welcoming all of the children back to school! The children loved exploring their new classroom. This week we have looked at the book 'Our Class is a Family'.
Harvest Festival
We had a lovely time during our Harvest Festival assembly! Year 1 did an amazing job performing a fun dance and singing a harvest song. Well done, Year 1 – you made us all smile. They also enjoyed watching the other year groups perform their songs, poems and artwork. It was a great way to celebrate harvest time together.
Design and Technology
Year 1 and 2 have begun their sewing project this term. We have begun by looking at some existing clothes and patchwork that Miss Hulatt-Richardson shared with us that she has made herself. The children also has a go at using her antique sewing machine. We have then been practicing running stitch and weaving techniques.
Geography
This week in geography, Year 1 and 2 have been learning about the weather. The children looked at weather forecasts and how meteorologists use symbols, maps, and data to predict what the weather will be like.
Japanese Culture Day
Year 1 had an amazing Japanese Culture Day! The children learned about the history of the samurai, explored Japan’s geography, and discovered what school life is like for children in Japan. Everyone loved trying out Taiko drumming—it was loud, exciting, and full of energy. It was a fantastic day of learning and fun!
Maths
This term Year 1 have been looking at place value within 10. The children have been creating and writing number sentences, showing great confidence in their understanding. It’s been wonderful to see everyone working hard and enjoying their maths learning!
