Hello and a big warm welcome to our Foundation class!
We are so excited to begin this learning journey with you. This year will be full of new adventures, discoveries, and lots of fun as we explore, play, and grow together.

Autumn Learning
This term, during Maths, we will be working on numbers to 5. This includes making 5 and writing numbers to 5.
In English, the children will be listening to stories which under that fall under the topic ‘All About Me’ and well as exploring books such as The Little Red Hen. We will be starting our journey learning phonics through scheme Little Wandle, where the children will learn new sounds and apply these skills to reading. As a class, we will be reading lots of stories every day during story time. During our writing sessions, children are beginning to form the different letters as well as writing their name. Nursery will be focusing particularly on learning nursery rhymes and are currently working on Humpty Dumpty – so please practise this at home!
In addition to this, we are looking forward to covering a broad range of curriculum areas over the term. This includes celebrating and learning about the Harvest in our local area, through baking bread, exploring windmills and how they work.
The children will explore different faiths in their Religious Education studies and will learn about other cultures through this. We cannot wait to teach the children all about the different seasons – focusing on Autumn we will explore the change in the leaves, pumpkins, the weather and much more!
During our Art lessons, we are focusing on the artist Freda Kahlo. We’re going to have so much fun!!

Key Information
Please return all reading/ reading for pleasure books to school on Mondays.
Snack money is 25p per week please give this to EYFS staff.

P.E. Information
Reception children have PE every Wednesday. Children must be wearing the appropriate kit to participate. Earrings must be removed or covered and long hair must be tied back.
PE kit:
On PE days, children should attend school in their PE kit.
