81hdOyKi1gL

W/C 15th April

Miss Cawkwell is looking forward to welcoming the children back to school after a well deserved Easter break.

We have lots of exciting new topics starting this term ranging from using Pastels in Art, delving into History with a focus on the Tudors and investigating the question 'How does water go round?' in Geography.

Make sure to check this page for weekly, class updates!

W/C 22nd April

This week, the children have been investigating Tudor artefacts. They had to consider what the artefact was made from and who would have used it.

W/C 29th April

On Monday, the children researched about our new artist of the term, Georgia O'Keeffe. They discovered that as a child, she lived on a dairy farm with her 6 siblings and now she has a museum dedicated to her and her artwork. They can't wait to use pastels in the coming weeks to recreate one of her famous pieces.

W/C 6th May

The children have been investigating sound in Science. We went around the school using a data logger measuring the noise level in each classroom and have used this data to create a bar chart.

W/C 13th May

On Friday, the children celebrated 'World Mental Health Day' and all wore green. They also created their own emotions wheel.

In Geography, the children have been using atlases to name and locate some of the world's longest rivers.

The children are in the process of writing up their own version of the traditional tale, Jack and Beanstalk in Literacy. Be sure to check out the website soon to see some of published pieces.

W/C 3rd June

On Thursday 6th June, our school celebrated the 80th Anniversary of D-Day. The children dressed up in themed costumes, produced some amazing artwork and created questions for Mrs Bramley's grandma, who was a child during World War II.

W/C 10th June

In History, the children designed their own coat of arms. It was essential that they considered what each animal represented and had a catchy motto.

W/C 17th June

The children have recently started a new topic in mathematics, money. They have been working hard, adding and subtracting different amounts. On Friday, they were able to put these skills into real life practice by buying things from around our classroom!
