Germinating beans
In Science we wanted to find out how long it would take for a bean to germinate (start growing) so we carried out an experiment.
We put a bean in a zip lock bag, to keep it warm and safe, with a damp paper towel. The paper towel gave our beans the water they needed.
Once our beans were safe inside a zip lock bag we put them onto the classroom window. Our beans needed the sun to germinate too!
We watched our beans carefully, day by day. Eventually after ten days some of our beans had started to germinate. Sadly, some needed a bit longer.
From our experiment we found out that our beans needed to be safe and warm to germinate as well as needing water. It took them all a different time to germinate, which was interesting to find out too.
We all took our germinated beans home and some people have carried on growing them at home. If you have some pictures please bring them in and we can share them as a class!
