This week we have had an amazing experiance with the Wonder Dome. The children really enjoyed learning about space, planets and the stars.

As part of our Art unit of work on collage based on the works of Alma Thomas, we have been looking at and experimenting with repeated patterns. The children had an amazing time indipentenly experimenting and building their confidence in art.

World Book Day 2024

Today was World Book Day! The children all looked incredible in there book character costumes. Lots of spectacular and inventive characters were protrayed by all.  We had a plethora of famous faces, such as; Paddington, Jack Skellington, a visit from super heros such as Black Panther and Spider-Man and we even got a flying visit from characters like Dorothy, Toto, lots of Fairy princesses and even an inquisitive visit from Alice in Wonderland, it only got curiouser and curiouser from there!

We have embraced our love of reading today in KS1 by reading at every oppertunity around our learning. We had a fun filled morning of Arts and Crafts linked to books. We created our very own 3D portraits of a character or animal that we have found in our books during our reading for pleasure either at home or in school. We even designed our own book covers for books we like.  The art work produced today was amazing and the children loved getting creative.

W/C 11th March

As part of our science module 'Plant Detectives' and as part of learning about the change of seasons, we went on a trip to Normanby Hall. We investigated lots of different plants and flowers using light meters, themometers, observations and even planted our very on beans to grow. We furthered our knowledge about plants by learning about the different parts and what they need to grow, we explored and observed plants within the walled garden and discovered lots of plants that you can smell and eat as well as being beautiful when they grow.

We even got to see lots of insects and animals on our adventures such as; Ladybirds, ducks and a gorgous white pehen that displayed its plumage for us to see in a little dance. The children were facinated!

The children also find exploring the main house its self interesting, working our way through the many roomed exibitions learning lots of new things about the grounds and the people that have lived there over the many years.
