Week Commencing - 4.12.23

In science, we have been investigating materials and learning about seasons. This week we had to work in pairs to design clothes for a particular season. We used our knowledge of materials to help us label our designs with the best material suited to the clothing and season we had been given. As well as our learning, we have been working hard to practice our christmas Production! We can't believe it is next week!

Week Commencing - 27.11.23

This week, we have put our brains to the test because it was assessment week! On Thursday, we explored different materials and made feely plates! We worked in groups to find and stick materials that matched the property that we had on our plate! We had to look for materials that were dull, shiny, flexible, transparent, opaque, stiff, rough and smooth! Then, on Friday we had a fantastic opportunity to join a video call with author and illustrators Nick Sharratt and Pippa Goodheart! They read through You Choose Christmas where they made up their own christmas story and at the end we did a live draw along of some of the christmas characters and objects - we LOVED it!

Week Commencing - 20.11.23

What a busy week! This week we had our Christmas Fayre, where we got to look and have a go at lots of christmas games and we even got the opportunity to sit and watch a pantomine in our very own school! We loved watching Snow White and had so much fun - it definitley made us laugh! As well as all these fun activities, in Literacy we have been looking at the book 'How did that get in my lunch box??', which has taught us the many different ways that food grows, is made and processed! We created informative leaflets and instructions on some of the foods in the book, like tomatoes, carrots, clementines and even apple juice!

Week Commencing - 13.11.23

On Friday it was national number day so we spent the morning doing some great maths activities! We split off into 2 groups and both did some beautiful number bond flower crafts and even an ocean themed escape room!

This week in maths we have been developing our skills on addition and subtraction. Year 2 have been using the numicon to deepen our understanding of number bonds to help us to add 3 single digit numbers and add across a 10!

Wow! What a busy first week we have had! We had our halloween disco on Monday where we all dressed as spooky halloween characters and had a dance and a boogie to some music! This week's learning has consisted of drama and learning about the story of the Princess and the Pea, we investigated properties of materials in science and even started looking at the great fire of London in history. On Friday, we had a go at sketching Claude Monet's Water Lilies painting!

Week Commencing - 16.10.23

This week in Literacy we have been exploring instructions. We followed Nick Sharrat's instructions on how we could draw a dinosaur!
