Killingholme Primary School Careers' Convention

Killingholme Primary School hosted its very first Career's Convention. It was a fantastic event which involved a variety of representatives from several different industries including; Phillips 66, RASE Vets, The British Army, North Lincolnshire Council, Costain, David Laws (former Scunthorpe United Football Manager) and North Lindsey College. The convention was very well attended by a host of local primary and secondary schools. It was a great  opportunity for the children to ask professionals informative questions about industry which will hopefully enable them to make informed decisions about their futures. Thank you to all of the volunteers who attended and we hope to see everyone again next year!

History

In September 2013 Killingholme Primary School was awarded a large cash donation from a community fund programme to develop a project to enhance learning and work in conjunction with a Phillips 66 Volunteer Program. We had been working on achieving the award and were delighted to be awarded $240,000. This money created The Phillips 66 Enterprise Suite.

Concept

The idea behind the suite is that the children are introduced to the concept of planning and running a business from an early age. The Suite is an adaptable space that interacts with the local community, the identity of the business or venture is directed by the curriculum and the children’s / community’s needs.
