This week, we have learnt all about Harvest. As a school, we have been collecting food donations and have had a whole school assembly where we shared our knowledge about harvest and sang one of our favourite songs.
The children have also enjoying reading for pleasure on a Friday morning in our new reading corner.
W/C 25th September
Over the past couple of weeks, we have been learning about human teeth. Last week, we focussed on the different types and what their purpose was. This meant that on Friday we enjoyed creating our own models using marshmallows.
W/C 2nd October
This week, the children have learnt about 'The Rockies' in North America. They completed a fact file all about the famous mountain range.
The children have also researched about different types of bread from around the world. We are looking forward to trying them all in our next DT lesson before half term.
W/C 9th October
The children put their drawing skills to work this week in Art. They used mirrors and a range of shading techniques (stippling, scumbling and cross-hatching) to draw a self-portrait.
W/C 16th October
So far this week the children have tried lots of different breads. These included Focaccia, Pitta, Bagels and Naan. They thoroughly enjoyed tasting them and had to describe their texture, appearance, smell and taste. Make sure to check out the photos to see some of our reactions - we enjoyed some more than others!
W/C 30th October
On Monday, the children enjoyed the spooky disco in celebration of Halloween and managed to scare Miss Cawkwell with their petrifying costumes.
In mathematics, Year 3 have been flying through their 'Addition and Subtraction' unit and are confidently using the column method to solve larger sums.
W/C 6th November
The children have used pastels to decorate a poppy, which will make up our Class wreath. This will be laid in our Rememberance Assembly on Friday. Check out the events page to see us laying our wreath.
W/C 13th November
To raise awareness of Antibullying week, our PSHE lesson consisted of talking about our differences and then designing our very own pair of odd socks!
In Art, we used our drawing techniques to add depth and detail to our recreation of 'The Girl with a Pearl Earring'.
W/C 20th November
This week we have got in the festive spirit and attended the 'Christmas Fayre'.
Some children were also lucky enough to participate in a Dodgeball competition against other schools.

Amazing Artwork!
Look at our brilliant artwork, which we have been working on and developing during the Autumn term, based on our artist Johannes Vermeer and the painting Girl With A Pearl Earring.
W/C 4th December
In English, we have been using the Christmas advert 'Edgar the Dragon' as inspiration for writing. The children watched the advert and discussed each part of the story, discussing how Edgar would feel during each stage. Over the next week or so, the children in both Year 3 and 4 are going to write an apology letter to the Townspeople in first person. It is certainly helping us get into the festive spirit!
Christmas Play
The children have worked tirelessly practicing their lines, learning the songs and getting their costumes ready for our Christmas play, 'Who took all the loo roll?'.
