Creating Planets (Art and Science Learning)

Getting messy... Very messy!
As we are studying different aspects of space for our topic learning, we decided to create planets. Firstly, we studied the planets in our solar system and was amazed that Jupiter was a giant gas planet and that it would be impossible to land on it! To create our planets, we each got a balloon and then created paper mache! Some of us got very messy, and had more paper mache on our clothes than what we did on our balloons! However, we had lots of fun creating these! After only putting one layer of paper mache on his balloon, Mr Vessey decided to pop his balloon to see what would happen... Mr Vessey's balloon sunk, as if a black hole was sucking in Mr Vessey's planet! Therefore, we knew that we had to put a number of layers onto our balloon. After we had done this, we had to let our paper mache dry over the weekend, as they got very wet. What messy fun we had! We each had an important decision to make... What planet we wanted to create! Lots of us chose to create the planet Venus as we loved the fiery look! We hope that you like our creations and enjoy looking at some of the pictures from our messy, fun and creative learning.
